this is REALLY what the mountain peaks in the distance look like at sunset.

  12. Ali on Mon, 5th Oct 2009 8:34 pm

these are might be possible, because sunlight is stay on the higher mountains long time than others in the sunset. look at the photo angle, you’ll see that.

If you actually think about what’s going on, you could come up with the conclusion that the sun is either setting or rising at a point where only the glowing mountain is being lit. For real!

Mountains that have pointed tips are growing mountains, those that are rounded on top are decaying……………

  25. sunmoonrainshine on Wed, 7th Oct 2009 2:51 pm

Lovely pics. I’ve some very similar shots taken in July in the Alps.

  26. deepflame on Wed, 7th Oct 2009 3:33 pm

the pictures are real! i’ve seen something like this and it’s really stunning…

  27. Michael on Wed, 7th Oct 2009 9:41 pm

Geesus the whole world isn’t fluent in English…get over it anyone who has issues with that.

Nice photos by the way. I live by the Andes in Santiago Chile and it’s just the light from the sunrise or sunset catching the highest peaks of the mountains, while the rest is in dark. It’s a lovely effect though, especially if you get the afternoon sun shining through a lot of haze or smoke, it lights up the mountain peaks variations of reds and oranges.

  29. Aurelio on Thu, 8th Oct 2009 3:04 am

Wow! these pictures are amazing!!! At first I thought there were hot lava flowing out of a volcano. Unbelievable sunrise or sunset!!!

  30. Dan Whisler on Thu, 8th Oct 2009 4:25 am

This are for real, but has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

  31. Neil on Sun, 11th Oct 2009 1:37 am

Silly Rabbi, Kicks are for Trids. I’ve had the good fortune of spending time in three of the highest mountain ranges in the world (Himalayas, Andes, Atlas Mtn ranges). No need for digital enhancement. There is no color on a computer program that Nature has not already used more adeptly. I’ve seen similar sunrises and sunsets. Spectacular. Makes you feel grateful to be alive.

On a side note… the grammar thing is kinda funny but I like what Michael said. Tolerance, maybe not such a bad thing. Hmmm

  35. Carla S. on Tue, 13th Oct 2009 8:33 am

    @Dan Whisler:
You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It’s just common sense.

  36. koresa on Tue, 13th Oct 2009 11:51 am

this can’t be real. those aren’t mountains and there is no sun!

  37. wes on Tue, 13th Oct 2009 2:35 pm

i saw this same thing last summer in alaska. it was obvious when seeing it in real real life, that alpine glow is totally fake.

  38. Torgeir on Sun, 29th Nov 2009 3:52 pm

Nice pics, its funny how everyone blame photoshop every time something downright beatiful appears. you might think you have seen it all, but actually, no. you havent.

  39. TrailHacker on Mon, 21st Dec 2009 11:41 pm

Yes, it is real and yes, the first, third, fourth, fifth, sixth are definitely Mt Everest. These are all in the Kumbu region of Nepal. I have similar pictures of Ama Dablam when the sun is at the right angle. Ama Dablam is in the fifth and eighth pictures.
